Romsey 9th Explorers

Explorers are the fourth section of the Scouting movement. Right from the time of Baden-Powell, there have been arrangements for young people who wanted to continue after their time in the Scout Section, and in 1967, Venture Scouts were formed from the existing Senior Scout and Rover Scout Sections.

During the late 1990s the section for 14 to 18-year-olds was formed: Explorer Scouts.
Our group is the Wellow Apaches. We are an active outdoor group, building on experience gained through the Beavers, Cubs and Scout sections.

Our programs have included: Orienteering, Murder Mystery evening, Wide Games, Ice Skating, Leadership and Communication Skills, Dry Slope Skiing, Rafting, Blind Drops, Campfire Cooking, Pioneering and many joint activities with other Explorer sections in the District.

Highlight of the year is the Summer Camp which in 2014 was held at the Hafod Scout Activity Centre at the foot of Tryfan in beautiful Snowdonia.
